fiji part 3 – nandi town
Wanted to venture out of Denarau and experience the real life out side this paradise. Got on the local bus which was filthy, no windows and shonky as though the bus was about to break down any time soon.
Roads were filled with pot holes so your pretty much bopping up and down in your seat for a good 45minutes LOL. Finally reached our destination and boy was it SCARY! Shop keepers dragging your arm pulling you into their dark dust infested stores desperate for a sale! Shonky women hanging around the streets sussing out where i’m from trying to strike up a coversation..
I wanted to buy art work and the tourist department store sold items for $500 FJD!! so i strolled down to Nandi Town markets and bargained with them there. At the time i felt pressured and intimated about the market stall owners forcing, pleading, begging me to buy something as they were doing it tough due to previous floods at the begining of the year =| I ended up bargaining and bought two pieces of art ^_^
Nandi town was quite boring so it was back to resort.. while we were waiting for a return bus.. An indian bloke kept coming up to us asking if we wanted to catch a taxi back to the resort for $12. We ended up getting the price down to $6 =P
